After graduating with a degree from Concordia University in psychology, Kimberly spent much of the next 20 years as a stay-at-home mama intentionally educating her four sons. The decision to “homeschool” arose not from a pioneering desire to homeschool, but rather from a humble desire to steward well her position as parent, aiming to know each of her sons in order to equip them for God’s specific calling on their lives. For many years, her desire was to help other families to do the same - equipping them to prepare their own children to launch by providing an accredited, Christ-centered academy that would allow the time and space to do so. She is very thankful to use her administrative gifts of systems and order, as well as her desire to disciple those coming behind, in a position of strategic support at LCA.
Markel resides in Roswell, Georgia with his wife, Kimberly, and is the proud father of four sons, Talor, Tommas, Oliver and Isaiah. Years ago, when his sons were young, Markel and his wife dreamed of opening a K-12 leadership academy that would partner with the family to help develop servant leaders who would shape culture. In 2011, he intentionally left his position in the health and fitness industry to use his degree in business and coaching, as well as his years of working in operations and management, to help launch an academy that would eventually begin to launch legacies. He currently enjoys supporting the academy from a founding board position, covering the school in prayer as well as offering expertise in logistical areas such as fundraising, operations and admissions.

She has spent years leading, facilitating, writing and soaking in women's bible studies, and after developing a Bible study on identity for middle school girls, she saw her focus shift from solely women to include the next generation and families. The interest in the middle school Bible study grew to include multiple grades in the school and eventually, additional schools in the area began to call looking for a different way to engage the hearts of students. Her passion led her to become a founding board member of Legacy Community Academy. In addition, Suzanne is involved with the development of Canopy Life Academy in Nairobi, Kenya.
